Photo of Dr. Kolb

Dr. Thomas Kolb is Professor of Forest Ecophysiology at NAU where he has worked since 1993.  He teaches undergraduate courses in identification of forest and range plants, trees and forests of North America, and forest ecology, and graduate-level courses in tree ecophysiology and forest health (see teaching).  His research interests focus on the ecophysiology of conifer and riparian forests of the western US, ecological restoration of ponderosa pine forests, interactions between trees, insects, and plant parasites, and exotic plant invasions in western forests (see current research and publications). 

He is the coordinator of graduate programs in the School of Forestry at NAU, serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Flagstaff Forests Partnership, and is a member of the Editorial Board for the journal Tree Physiology.  He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Ecological Society of America.
