Background: I have never been really lucky in my life, but the first couple
weeks June 2008 was pretty much as good as it gets. You can read about it in
my blog Bottom line: got a
great new job, and won a Bike Friday Tikit to Ride!
Here's what happened: I purchased an Axa integrated lock for my Raleigh
Twenty from a place called Clever Cycles in Portland, Oregon in May. The
folks at Clever Cycles were celebrating their 1 year anniversary in June,
and put the names of all the customers that had purchased stuff within the
last 30 days into a drawing- grand prize was a Bike Friday Tikit to Ride. I
got back from my lunch and checked my email, and there was an email saying
that I had won the grand prize! There was also a voice mail from Martina at
Clever Cycles who was afraid that maybe my email system would put the notice
in my junk mail, or I would think that it was a scam or something. It was
for real, and my little Crusoe arrived at the end of the week into my loving
arms!
This little baby is great for the multi-modal commute- folds in seconds, and
is welcome onboard the bus, along with in the bike racks. Never to be bumped
by lack of space in the rack again! I am planning to upgrade the 8 speed
derailler gears to an Alfine internal hub, and maybe a Brooks saddle, but I
don't want to get carried away. This bike needs to stay quick and light.
