Help on the project.

Mathematica Notebooks to compute the Fourier Cosine Series and to demonstrate Gibbs phenomenon in the Fourier Sine Series.

Here is a notebook showing the divergent FCS we derived in class by differentiating the FSS for f(x) = 1 term by term.

Here is a pdf of problem I did in class on Tuesday, Oct. 23. It shows how to get the FCS of sin(pi x/L) without integrating. The Mathematica notebook FCSofSine.nb was used to make the figures in the pdf.

Here is a pdf of problem I started in class on Thursday, Oct. 25. It shows how to get the FSS of e^x without dong the hard integral for Bn. The Mathematica notebook FSSofExp.nb was used to make the figure in the pdf.

Here is a mathematica notebook about the L matrix that approximates the 1-D Laplacian.

The current Problem of the Week. The POTW can earn you extra credit for this class. Turn your answers in at the Math/Stat department office.
