Refworks:

Thank you for your inquiry.

To access RefWorks (software that allows you to format and
organize your citations) from the Library homepage:

• Click on the link “Research Resources"
• Scroll to the section “Doing and Presenting Research” located on the right side of your screen
• Select RefWorks (citation manager)

You may be asked to enter an account name and password. For more information, see http://www.nau.edu/library/information/guides/connect.html.

To use the RefWorks software, you will need to sign up for an individual
account. Click on the link “sign up for an individual account”.

After you have signed up for your account you will be able to create and/or import citations (articles, books and web sites) into RefWorks, create folders for citations, and format your citations to create a bibliography.
Write-N-Cite, a tool in the RefWorks program, allows you to write your paper in Microsoft (MS) Word and will create your in-text citations and your bibliography from the citations you already have in RefWorks directly within your paper.

To use Write-N-Cite in MS Word, you can download it from the RefWorks site. To download Write-N-Cite, login to RefWorks and click on the Tools menu, then click on Write-N-Cite. After you download Write-N-Cite, MS Word will open and you can open the Write-N-Cite program at the same time. You can then click on the “cite” option next to the citation in Write-N-Cite to cite in your document and use the Bibliography option to create a bibliography of all of the references you place in your paper in the format you need.

A comprehensive tutorial can be found under RefWorks Help section or at: http://www.refworks.com/tutorial/
