Northern Arizona University's Safe Working and Learning Environment Policy addresses prohibited discrimination, harassment, and other inappropriate behaviors and outlines how to file a complaint or receive other assistance in stopping such behavior.
The policy is based on federal law, state statute, Arizona Board of Regents Policy, and Northern Arizona University policy. It was created through a grassroots effort by a group of university employees; was endorsed by student, staff and faculty groups; and in March, 1995 was implemented as policy by Dr. Clara M. Lovett, President of Northern Arizona University.
The Safe Working and Learning Environment Project was created to design and implement educational orientations to the policy and to serve as a resource to campus community members.
