Day 11: Genoa to Aqcui Terme

Yippee, out of Genoa! I traveled west from Genoa and after about 10 km, turned north for a long climb to Turchino Pass. The road was relatively empty, offering a good time to clear my head and take in the lush valley leading to the city of Ovada. From Ovada, I turned west for another 20 km to Aqcui Terme. After the 10 days of riding thus far, I was feeling really strong and made excellent time during Day 11, arriving in Aqcui Terme around 1 PM.

I stayed at the Albergo San Marco (28 euro/night; breakfast included), a clean, two star hotel in the heart of the town. The owners do not speak any Italian, but were very welcoming. My room opened to a great little balcony, where I enjoyed watching the sunset and resting.

Summary: 85 km (53 miles); long morning climb and a relaxing spin into Aqcui Terme
